EthnoBass Menu:

The band from Madrid Barahúnda showed in life their first CD, "Al Sol de la Hierba" (Galileo M.C., 2002) the 3rd of October of 2002 in Madrid, at the concert hall Galileo Galilei. It was an exciting concert, as it was the official presentation of the CD and the hall was full of people involved in folk music and of friends of the group. For two hours the mixture of Sephardic lullabyes, castilian jotas, galaic-portugueses cantigas and arabic-andalusien shades fullfitted the room, liderated by the  voice of Helena de Alfonso, with the  percussions by José Luis Escribano, the wind instruments by Manuel Carro, the shades of Jota Martínez´s zanfona (spanish hurdy-gurdy), the electric bass by Paco Benítez and the  guitar of Antonio Toledo.

The group had also a lot of guest artists: José Climent at the violin, Dario Palomo at the clarinet, Javier Monteagudo at the oud, Rafa Martin at the zanfona and Javier Palancar at the accordion (both of them members of La Bruja Gata), Marta de la Aldea, Clara Serrano and José Luis Lara at the chorus, and the productor of the CD, Javier Bergia, at the darbuka.

Before going on, I have to confess that I am not absolutely independent about Barahúnda, as I am in charge of their management and promotion. Anyway, as giving information about them, as a folk music group that they are, contributes to the main objetive of EthnoBass, I have made this page about their concert. I will try to keep as cold and unpassionated as possible when talking about them, as you can check in the paragraphs above.

I hope you´ll enjoy the pictures. They are thumbnails, if you want a closer look, just click over them.
