Brazz Brothers & Women Unite, At Nordfjordeid, Norway 2002

The Norwegian "brass&drums" band Brazz Brothers is the kind of bands that often hooks up with other musicains. They has collaborated with musicians from Africa, America, Asia and other European countryes. The result is hard to predict, but it has alway a recognisable sound, of Brazz Brothers - tight, hot swinging jazz based music, also deeply rooted in Norwegian folk music, performed with warmth and pure joy.
This year, 2002, they invited the South African all-women dance and music group Women Unite. The founder and leader Thandi Swaarbooi, is known from Amampondo. The idea of Women Unite is simple. Women artists often don't get the recognaition and the money they deserve. By joining forces they makes this a bit different. Women Unite is a group of very talented people. They dance well, sing well. Together they are dynamite.

The tour started at Norfjordeid. By the way, BB has done a wonderfull live recording at Expedisjonen at Nordfjordeid. (Excuse me, I am a bit hooked up at this small spot at the map, it's my homeplace) Anyway this collaboration was more than a regular joined tour. Part of the program was to perform at the Royal Wedding concert in Trondheim. Brazz Brothers had prepared a new arrangement of the old jazz classic The Wedding by Abdullah Ibrahim aka. Dollar Brand. Women Unite also had a couple of numbers in their "bag".
