Zap Mama:
Marie Daulne 
Sally Nyolo
"African" a cappella quintet, of mixed ethic identity, based in Belgium

The leader Marie Daulne, was born in Congo (then Democratic Republic of Congo). Her father was killed in rebellion when she was a baby. Her mother took her and the rest of the children out in the forests and lived with the pygmies for some months. Later they flew to Belgium and settled there. 

Daulne set up Zap Mama, with three Europeans and two Africans. They started with exploring pygmy polyphonic singing, later they included yodeling, and other elements. Sally Nyolo from Cameroon was a member of the first Zap Mama.

Hukwe Zawose:
Tanzania's National Music Ensemble
Tanzanian singer, composer and Ilimba (a giant Mbira, "thumb piano) player. His performeances also includes izezs (Tanzanian traditional fiddle), filimbi (traditional flute), and nguga (ankle bells) His music are perhaps more folkloristic than ethnic. He is more or less self taught. Ex. leader of Tanzania's National Music Ensemble.
